Policies and Procedures

By proceeding with a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to our Policies & Procedures.

We understand that life can be unpredictable — things come up, schedules change, and sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule. We're here to support you, but as a small business with limited appointment availability, we kindly ask for your understanding in return.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require at least 48 hours' notice. This allows us time to offer the appointment slot to another client in need.

  • More than 48 hours’ notice: No fee. You can reschedule or cancel without penalty.

  • Less than 48 hours’ notice: A cancellation fee will apply.

  • No-shows: The full session fee will be charged.

  • If you’ve prepaid for weekly sessions and cancel within the required notice period 48 hours, your payment will be credited to your next booking.

  • If you cancel outside the policy window, the cancellation fee will be deducted from your credit or payment.

Refund Policy

At Canine Minds, we are committed to providing high-quality services and support to you and your dog. We value transparency, so here’s everything you need to know about refunds.

Training & Behaviour Sessions

  • Refunds are not available for completed sessions. Time, preparation, and tailored advice are provided during your appointment, and these services cannot be “returned.”

  • If you cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice, and you’ve prepaid, a full refund or credit can be provided.

  • If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged or given the opportunity to reshedule.

 Multiple bookings & Prepaid Sessions

  • If you’ve purchased multiple bookings and no longer wish to continue, we can provide a pro-rata refund for unused sessions, minus any sessions already delivered and any cancellation fees that may apply.

 House Visit Services

  • Refunds are only available for cancelled house visits if notice is given more than 24 hours in advance.

Payment Terms & Public Holidays

Payment Requirements

  • All services must be paid for in full prior to your booking.
Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received.

  • If payment is not received by the due date, your booking may be cancelled or offered to another client.

Public Holiday Surcharge

  • Public holiday rates apply for any services booked on official public holidays.

  • This includes house visits, walks, or any in-person services requested on those dates.

  • The surcharge amount will be clearly outlined in your booking quote.

  • If you’re unsure whether your booking falls on a public holiday, feel free to ask when enquiring.

Service Terms

At Canine Minds, we’re passionate about helping you and your dog thrive. To make sure every session is safe, productive, and respectful for all involved, please take a moment to read our service terms.

Scope of Services

Canine Minds offers:

  • Private training and behaviour consultations

  • In-home visits for feeding, walks, and enrichment

  • Tailored support for reactive, anxious, or special-needs dogs

  • Services may evolve over time — please check the website or contact us for up-to-date offerings.

All services are delivered with care, professionalism, and an evidence-based approach. However, individual results may vary depending on your dog’s unique needs, environment, and consistency of training.

Client Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information about your dog’s health, behavioural history, and any known risks (e.g., aggression, allergies).

  • Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations or have a valid titer test, unless otherwise discussed.

  • For safety reasons, dogs must be appropriately secured (on lead, muzzled if needed, etc.) during sessions unless instructed otherwise.

Session Expectations

  • Please be ready at the agreed time and location. Delays or no-shows may reduce your session time or incur fees.

  • Children may be present during training, but must be supervised and not interrupt the session.

  • Your trainer may end a session early if they feel the dog is overly stressed or unwell, or if there is a risk to safety.

Photos & Social Media

We occasionally take photos or videos during sessions to celebrate progress or educate others. Please let us know if you do not wish your dog to be included.

Limitations

  • While we aim to provide meaningful progress, we cannot guarantee results, especially without consistent follow-through by the owner.

  • Canine Minds reserves the right to decline or discontinue services if a dog presents a risk to staff, others, or itself — or if policies are not respected.

Agreement

By proceeding with a booking, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and agree to these service terms.

  • You understand your role in the training process and agree to work collaboratively for the best outcome.

Liability

At Canine Minds, the safety and wellbeing of both dogs and humans is our top priority. We are committed to using ethical, science-based methods and take every precaution to ensure a safe and positive experience. However, by engaging our services, clients acknowledge and accept the following:

General Liability

  • All services are undertaken at the owner’s risk.

  • Canine Minds and its staff are not liable for any loss, injury, illness, or damage to any person, dog, or property arising from services provided, unless directly caused by proven negligence.

  • It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that their dog is physically healthy, vaccinated (or titer tested), and suitable for the agreed service.

Behavioural Outcomes

  • Training and behaviour modification are complex and rely on many factors, including consistency, environment, individual temperament and genetics.

  • While every effort is made to support progress, no guarantees can be made regarding outcomes or behavioural changes.

  • Owners must follow training advice responsibly and accept that progress may vary from dog to dog.

Reactive, Aggressive or Anxious Dogs

  • Working with dogs that have a history of reactivity or aggression carries inherent risk. While we are experienced in these areas and aim to manage these situations with care, owners are responsible for disclosing behavioural issues before services begin.

  • Canine Minds is not liable for incidents resulting from undisclosed behavioural history or unmanaged risk.

Pick-ups, Walks & Paddock Sessions

  • During pick-ups, off-site sessions, or paddock play, all reasonable precautions are taken to ensure your dog’s safety and well-being. However, participation is at the owner’s risk.

  • Dogs must wear secure, appropriate gear as advised, and any medical or behavioural concerns must be disclosed in advance.

By booking a service with Canine Minds, you confirm that you have read and understood this disclaimer and agree to participate at your own risk.
